San Diego, CALIF. — The Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) has just announced the release of a brand new set of NAG Statistical Add-Ins to complement the existing set. The NAG Statistical Add-Ins for Excel provide functions that enhance and increase the accuracy of Excel’s statistical analysis easily. By enhancing Microsoft Excel with the NAG Statistical Add-Ins, users are able to undertake regression, time series analysis, generalised linear modelling, analysis of experiments, multivariate analysis and now also Nonparametric statistics from a standard desktop utility, without the need for a full statistical package.
The NAG Statistical Add-Ins provide an easy to use interface to 75 of NAG’s most popular and useful statistical algorithms to provide the right answer, consistently. More than 3,500 organisations worldwide rely on the proven reliability and robustness of NAG’s algorithms. The algorithms can be accessed via the function wizard and, as with standard Excel functions, the results are immediately updated whenever the input cells are altered. The NAG Statistical Add-Ins are available at £95 per set (Email [email protected] or visit http://www.nag.co.uk/mkt/add_ins ).
The brand new set of NAG Statistical Add-Ins for Excel, ‘Nonparametric Methods’, comprises 24 Nonparametric statistics functions. This set has been written to complement the existing set, ‘Modelling and Multivariate Methods’, that consists of over 50 statistical functions.
Nonparametric statistics do not rely on the form of the distribution of the data and are of particular use when the data does not have a normal distribution. In many circumstances, such as small samples, the assumption of normally distributed data can not be assumed. This set of Add-Ins is also useful for data that may not be actual measurements but are either in the form of classes or in terms of relative comparisons, i.e. ranks.
The NAG Statistical Add-Ins can be used in Excel version 7.0, Excel 97 or Excel 2000 running under either Windows 95/98/2000 or Windows NT.
With nearly thirty years experience and a worldwide reputation in developing, porting, distributing, and supporting scientific computing software, NAG supplies a range of mathematical and statistical components, compilers, tools and associated products for the professional programmer. NAG software is used by industry, government and education to solve problems, however complex, in areas such as research, engineering, life and earth sciences and financial analysis. Based in Oxford, UK, NAG has offices in Chicago, Munich and Tokyo, as well as distributors worldwide.
