Waltham, MASS. — PTC, a leading provider of mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) solutions, announced that it received a $3.5 million order from Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), for software and services. Hyundai Motor Company, located in Seoul, Korea is a global automotive manufacturer. The software will be shipped during PTC’s first fiscal quarter (ending December 30, 2000).
After an extensive review process, HMC chose to standardize on PTC’s Pro/ENGINEER software and deploy it throughout the Powertrain Research and Development Center and the Production Engineering Center. Pro/ENGINEER will be used throughout the whole process of Powertrain, from design to manufacturing including stamping and casting. HMC is a long-time user of Pro/ENGINEER where they have experienced reductions in time and cost, as well as improvements in overall quality. This extended implementation will enable HMC to use Pro/ENGINEER’s behavioral modeling to significantly reduce time in design and manufacturing processes throughout the organization.
“Hyundai Motor Company has seen the benefits of Pro/ENGINEER solutions in the past and the extensive benchmarking we have completed, validates its strength,” said H. S. Lee Ph.D., executive vice president at HMC. “PTC provides the most effective solution for implementing concurrent engineering at HMC.”
“We are pleased to be the MCAD tool-of-choice with an automotive leader like Hyundai,” said Trenton Brown, executive vice president, International Sales at PTC. “PTC is committed to provide solutions that capture engineering knowledge and allow designers to bring more innovative products to market in less time.”
