Santa Clara, CALIF. — Intel Corporation announced a host of new server products to be offered through its worldwide channel program.
Among the products being introduced for channel availability are the Intel Server Board STL2, the Intel Server Board SBT2, the Intel Server Platforms SPKA4 and SRKA4, and, to qualified system integrators, the Intel SRPM8 High-End 8-Way Intel Pentium III Xeon Rack Mount Server.
“As the economy adapts to e-Business, the end customer is demanding products that allow quick and easy access to the Internet,” said Mike Lafferty, manager of Intel Server Channel Marketing. “High-density and general purpose servers are important parts of this trend. We want Intel’s system integrator network to be able to supply technology solutions so customers can participate in the Internet economy in a cost-effective way.” Intel Server Board STL2 The Intel Server Board STL2 is a powerful, dual-processing server board for the Intel Pentium III processor. This server board is considered ideal for general-purpose e-Business applications and front-end server workloads to support the ongoing Internet infrastructure. Key features of the STL2 include: 133 MHz system bus, six PCI slots (two of which are 64bit/66 MHz), capacity for up to 4GB of ECC SDRAM support, and a high level of server board integration.
Intel provides two chassis that support the Intel Server Board STL2, the SC5000 Server Chassis and SR2050 2U Rack Server Chassis. Intel also provides a list of third-party reference chassis for use with the Intel Server Board STL2.
In response to the increased performance, scalability and availability needs demanded by customers for their e-Business environments, Intel has introduced the Intel Server Board SBT2.
“In addition to supporting Pentium III Xeon processors, SBT2 provides several new features: 64/66 PCI slots, integrated Ultra160 SCSI, and advanced server management capabilities,” Lafferty said. The SBT2 is validated with the SC5000 chassis, which provides additional system-level scalability and availability advantages, including redundant and hot-swap power supplies, support for up to 10 hot-swap drives, and an optional kit to configure as a 5U rack chassis.
Intel is also introducing the Intel Server Platforms SPKA4 and SRKA4 , two new server building blocks designed to deliver the performance of up to four Intel Pentium III Xeon processors with the scalability and high availability needed for e-Business environments.
The SPKA4 comes standard as a pedestal server platform, and can be converted to a 7U rack-mountable configuration. The SRKA4, optimized for high-density environments, is a 4U rack-mountable server platform.
Packed with redundant features for maximum uptime, these server platforms provide system integrators and value-added resellers the ability to deploy servers capable of mission-critical workloads. To meet those needs, both platforms feature Intel’s advanced server management system, which incorporates a dedicated server management microprocessor and Intel Server Control (ISC) software to reduce unscheduled server downtime. Other key features include Triple Peer PCI buses, Hot-Plug PCI, integrated Ultra160 SCSI, Video, an Intel Pro100+ Server Adapter, and support for up to 16GB of SDRAM Memory.
The new SRPM8 system features the Profusion chipset supporting up to eight Pentium III Xeon processors, 32GB of ECC SDRAM memory, 64-bit/66MHz PCI slots, PCI Hot-Plug functionality and advanced system management.
The SRPM8 delivers balanced performance, offering both processor scalability and high I/O throughput. The processing power is packaged in a space-efficient 7U rack mount chassis to meet the needs of the enterprise computing market segment.
4-way and 8-way servers are used for large database applications, high-end supply chain management, e-Commerce and enterprise resource planning. Dual Processor servers are ideal for departmental e-mail, web hosting, e- Commerce, file and print, and firewall/proxy/caching server applications.
Intel, the world’s largest chip maker, is also a leading manufacturer of computer, networking and communications products.
