St. Louis, MO. — Unigraphics Solutions Inc. announces an agreement to supply EDAG Engineering + Design AG – a leading engineering partner of the worldwide automotive industry – with 550 licenses of Unigraphics, UGS’ high-end CAD/CAM/CAE software suite. The installation of the contract’s first 100 licenses has already been completed at EDAG’s headquarters in Fulda, Germany, with the entire implementation expected to be complete by 2003.
EDAG, a company that is known for its expertise throughout the entire automotive engineering process chain, was particularly impressed with Unigraphics’ WAVE technology, which will enable EDAG to build control structures for relationships and constraints between all parts and assemblies within a car. Because of this capability, EDAG anticipates considerable improvements in both the design and design change process.
“The decision to implement Unigraphics was easy for us,” says Roland Guenther, IT-Manager at EDAG. “Unigraphics’ stability, quality and comprehensive functionalities, covering the complete processes, have us convinced that it is the right solution for EDAG.
“Our goal is automotive engineering optimization and with Unigraphics Solutions, we have a partner with the same objectives. Furthermore, UGS’ iMAN application for product data management and its c-Commerce solutions support the collaboration of our global distributed engineering locations and customers. Unigraphics Solutions is a very successful company, and the experience and cooperation of its employees will ensure a long term and effective partnership.”
