Campbell, CALIF. — IP Dynamics Inc, announces the award of its U.S. Patent No. 6,119,171 on Domain Name Routing (DNR). This technology enables peer-to-peer connectivity over the open Internet and beyond, into private intranets. Domain Name Routing technology is one of three key IP Dynamics’ technologies that enable the introduction of a virtual network services layer over the flat Internet address space. Specific services can be mapped on top of this virtual network layer.
One of the challenges of implementing peer-to-peer computing, where computing services, resources, storage and bandwidth are all shared, is the creation of a manageable infrastructure for associating related computers into virtual communities, and enabling these computers within the community to reach each other both ways. DNR enables this peer-to-peer connectivity.
“In the past five years, the Internet has encountered an exponential growth rate. This growth is expected to continue for some time. As a result, Internet public IP addresses have become a scarce commodity. The current Internet Protocol is IPv4. For computers to reach each other in a peer-to-peer fashion, each Internet device requires a public IPv4 address. A new Internet Protocol (IPv6) has been developed to expand this address space. But, IPv6 is incompatible with IPv4 and has encountered insurmountable deployment barriers.
Domain Name Routing solves the IP address depletion problem completely, It also provides a smooth transition path for migration from IPv4 to IPv6.” Said Hasan S. Alkhatib, CEO and President of IP Dynamics and author of the DNR patent. “The DNR technology has myriads of applications. IP Dynamics Virtual Domain Network solutions employ DNR to solve the problem of reach-ability across the Internet from one Internet device in one private network to another Internet device in another private network, with full support of host-to-host IPsec.” Alkhatib added.
IP Dynamics is the architect of a new Internet infrastructure technology called Virtual Domain Network, VDN. With Virtual Domain Network systems a service provider can create on demand, thousands of centrally managed, policy-based virtual overlay networks over the flat Internet address space and into the intranets of private enterprises. IP Dynamics is applying the VDN architecture to Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), resulting in an unparalleled solution that will forever change the way VPNs are built and deployed. IP Dynamics’ carrier-class VDN solution is targeted primarily for service providers. For more information visit the company’s website at http://www.ipdynamics.com .
