NEWS BRIEFS
San Diego, CALIF. — The Tenth IEEE International Symposium On High Performance Distributed Computing (HPDC-10), to be held Aug. 6-9, 2001, in San Francisco, is seeking papers on all aspects of high-performance distributed computing, visualization and collaboration.
HPDC-10 is a forum for presenting the latest research findings on the use of networked systems for high-performance computing. Areas of particular interest include hardware technologies, network protocols, the middleware that ties distributed resources together into “computational, data, and collaboration Grids,” middleware that enables application use of Grids; and tools and languages that support application development.
Papers discussing application experience with high-performance distributed computing are of particular interest. Examples include scientific computing applications such as High Energy Physics data analysis, multi-site climate modeling, massive data access problems (e.g. NASA’s EOS data), etc., distributed collaborative virtual reality, and non-scientific workloads such as high performance Web servers or indexing engines.
Papers receiving the best reviews will also be considered for publication in a special issue of the journal Cluster Computing.
Technical Papers: Authors are requested to submit extended abstracts of at most 3,000 words. (Figures and references are not counted in this total.) Abstracts should be written so as to be self-contained and to provide the technical substance required for the program committee to evaluate the paper’s contribution. Excessively long abstracts will be rejected outright. Papers submitted to or published in another conference or a journal are ineligible for this conference.
Abstracts must be submitted by March 4, 2001. Authors will be notified by May 21, 2001, and final camera-ready copies are due by June 18, 2001.
Tutorials: Submit proposals for tutorials by April 15, 2001, to the Tutorials Chair, Jon Weissman, ([email protected]).
Exhibits and Technical Demonstrations: Proposals for exhibits and technical demonstrations should be submitted to Ken Freeman ([email protected]) by June 4, 2001.
HPDC-10 is scheduled to be held Aug. 6-9, 2001, at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, California. For more information about the conference, go to http://www-itg.lbl.gov/HPDC-10/ .
