Network Appliance Provides Products For TI

December 15, 2000

NEWS BRIEFS

Sunnyvale, CALIF. — Network Appliance, Inc., the leading provider of network-attached data access and content management solutions, today announced that Texas Instruments has selected NETAPP F840 systems for its network storage requirements in Bangalore, India. The deployment includes both NETAPP F840 and F840C clustered systems, and will be used to manage the data and information storage requirements of Texas Instruments India research and development design center.

With this new deployment, Texas Instruments will have implemented Network Appliance solutions in 12 countries, handling a variety of global business and mission critical applications; including traditional file service, NT/UNIX data sharing and home directory data management. Texas Instruments India selected Network Appliance F840 series filers because they significantly improved performance and backup flexibility for its enterprise-class storage system.

Network Appliance allows TI India to deliver terabytes of semiconductor design and development data to its high performance computing center including global data sharing for design and development collaboration.

“With NetApp’s new 840 filers, we can seamlessly upgrade our storage capacity and the performance of our EDA applications as we grow,” said Chandramouli Mahadevan, general manager information technology, Texas Instruments India. “Having our data continuously available is critical to our operation. The high availability features of NetApp storage systems will help keep our data available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

“Texas Instruments has deployed one of the world’s highest capacity network data infrastructures for semiconductor design in the industry. By using Network Appliance systems, TI is demonstrating an expanded commitment to open storage networking,” said Tom Mendoza, president, Network Appliance. “Using Network Appliance to deliver and manage terabytes of information will enable TI to continue designing and delivering the most innovative and high performance semiconductor chip solutions to its customers.”

Network Appliance, Inc., a leader in network file serving and caching, has been providing data access solutions since 1992, and is a member of both the S+P 500 and NASDAQ 100 index. Major corporations and ISPs; including Lycos, Yahoo!, Citicorp Securities, Siemens, Lockheed, Cisco, Motorola and Texas Instruments have deployed NetApp solutions.
