San Diego, CALIF. — The National High Performance Computing and Communications (NHPCC) Council will hold its 15th annual HPCC conference March 28-29, 2001 at the Newport Marriott Hotel and Marina, Newport, Rhode Island. The conference theme is “E-Government: Managing Change in the Information Technology World.”
The NHPCC council is a nonprofit professional society of government computer, communications and IT professionals. The mission of the council is to provide education and training in the fields of computing, communications and Information Technology for the public sector.
This high level conference is presented as a joint meeting of about 200 senior top management professionals from government agencies, department of defense, universities and industry. We meet annually in Newport, Rhode Island to discuss topics of interest to the IT community, government plans, programs and policy as well as the latest advances information technology, computer security and university and industry research.
The conference reception will be held on Wednesday evening, March 28, at Mrs. Astor’s Beechwood mansion. The mansion has been restored and is staffed with Mrs. Astor’s servants and relatives dressed in 1895 period costumes. When spoken to, they know of nothing beyond 1895.
