NEWS BRIEFS
Pleasanton, Calif.– ComView Corporation, a leading provider of cardiac imaging management systems for hospitals, cath labs and echocardiology facilities, today reported the launch of its second generation Internet portal site for the transmission and storage of dynamic cardiac images.
The cardiac specific telemedicine site ( http://www.etelecardiology.com ) allows physicians to send, store, review, and share complete full-motion cardiac studies with anyone anywhere in the world via a highly secure Internet connection. This unique and first-of-its-kind service was initially launched at last year’s American College of Cardiology meeting and had over 3,000 cardiologists register for the service within the first 30 days.
“The demand for the service has required us to dramatically upgrade the technology behind the scenes,” according to ComView’s Chief Technology Officer Shailander Mangla. “The combination of using the latest Java(TM) Server Pages technology and Oracle’s SQL database on the Linux platform has given the site the ability to reliably handle many thousands of transactions per day. We are now properly positioned to scale as needed to accommodate all of the cardiac clinicians who visit the site.”
Currently ComView utilizes Exodus Communications(TM) to host the portal site and handle the physical security needs. “We chose Exodus knowing our customers would demand the highest level of reliability and security,” says Mangla. “As HIPPA becomes more of a concern for hospitals, every step of the process of handling patient data should be vitally important. Exodus is the industry leader in mission critical enterprise operations and provides ComView’s customers the highest-level service and security in the industry.”
ComView freely distributes its cardiac viewer the ViewStar-PC(TM) and the telemedicine service at its Web site www.etelecardiology.com. The basic service is free and is underwritten by leaders in the field of cardiology such as Medtronic, Guidant, Eli Lilly, and Boston Scientific. The company plans to offer data warehousing storage and remote access as a subscription service in the coming months.
ComView Corporation is a leading developer and manufacturer of innovative products for cardiology and is funded by Menlo Ventures, a venture firm with over $1 billion under management. The Company offers a full line of high-performance digital products to record, view, archive, network and generate reports for workstations that support cath lab, angiography, and ultrasound imaging needs.
ComView’s executive offices are located at 5870 Stoneridge Drive, Suite One, Pleasanton, California 94588, and its telephone number is 925/416-8950. The Company’s Internet Web site address is http://www.comview.com .
