FEATURES AND COMMENTARY
San Diego, CA — The following letter, received this week, refers to article 18796, INTERVIEW WITH CHUCK BRECKENRIDGE OF SRC, that was published in the October 27, 2000 edition of HPCwire:

It seems that you have no letter to the editor section.
The interview you had with Breckenridge at Cray (srccomp) seems to accept as fact that Seymour had conceived of Reconfigurable Computing all by himself. As someone who has 5 patents (3 issued and 2 just accepted) I feel you should take a little harder look at the history of reconfigurable computing. Seymour did not invent reconfigurable computing no matter what anyone tells you. I was the first person to propose reconfigurable computing to DARPA in 1992. A year during which I’m sure Seymour was sucking off the Government rolls. At that time reconfigurable computing was “not innovative enough” to receive a DARPA grant. Of course years later DARPA plagiarized my work (their lawyers deigned it all but took the work off their web anyway). It was amazing how Dr. Bob Parker went from temporary head of the program to receiving the largest grant from the program. How does that work??? I’m sure you guys won’t ask any questions about that will you???
Please don’t let anyone tell you who invented reconfigurable computing until you do a little more research.
