iCluster Helps Provide OneWorld Application Resiliency

January 26, 2001

NEWS BRIEFS

DataMirror Corporation, a leading provider of e-Business data integration and resiliency solutions, announced that its iCluster software has helped leading collaborative solutions provider J.D. Edwards achieve ClusterProven status by IBM.

IBM ClusterProven for iSeries recognizes that J.D. Edwards(R) OneWorld(R) applications can operate successfully on multiple iSeries servers in a clustered environment, providing customers with application resiliency and continuous availability in the event of planned and unplanned downtime. ClusterProven applications, when combined with cluster management solutions like iCluster, enable companies to keep their business critical systems and applications up and running 24/7.

As an IBM cluster middleware business partner, DataMirror has worked closely with both IBM and J.D. Edwards to ensure that OneWorld meets the rigorous requirements of IBM’s ClusterProven program. DataMirror iCluster has been successfully tested at J.D. Edwards’ development facilities in Denver, Colorado to demonstrate that the high availability software can function in either a two- or three-tier J.D. Edwards OneWorld environment. DataMirror iCluster works in conjunction with J.D. Edwards OneWorld applications to automatically detect primary system failure, reassign IP addresses, and initialize recovery environments to ensure rapid and smooth failovers in the event of an outage.

“In today’s 24/7 world, companies are recognizing that high availability clustering technology can help them achieve competitive advantage,” said Nigel Stokes, Chairman, President and CEO of DataMirror Corporation. “Successful clustering initiatives involve the active participation of cluster middleware business partners like DataMirror and solution developers like J.D. Edwards. We are pleased to extend our alliance with J.D. Edwards to include iCluster. DataMirror has been a part of the J.D. Edwards Product Alliance Program since 1997. We look forward to working closely with J.D. Edwards to provide highly available ClusterProven applications to the Company’s worldwide customer base.”

“J.D. Edwards solutions are designed to meet the full spectrum of our customers’ software needs, both within and beyond the walls of the enterprise, to enable collaboration with partners, vendors, and customers,” said Mike O’Meara, Director of Technical Marketing at J.D. Edwards. “Our alliance with DataMirror Corporation has made it possible to cluster-enable our OneWorld application, ensuring that customers worldwide benefit from the highest levels of continuous availability.”

About DataMirror iCluster

DataMirror iCluster software enables companies to realize the full benefits of iSeries clusters. iCluster includes an intuitive Java graphical user interface to manage iSeries clusters as well as provide enhanced data and application resiliency. iCluster mirrors data and objects from the production server to one or many recovery servers or nodes. iCluster enables users to define nodes in a cluster, determine what data and other critical objects are mirrored to specific nodes and monitor the entire cluster from a single station. iCluster enables customers to achieve even greater levels of application resiliency by allowing ClusterProven applications to perform switchover procedures automatically.
