A 12 teraflop supercomputer name Albert 3 is helping to the BMW Sauber Formula 1 team to achieve its Grand Prix goals. Albert’s primary use is in computational fluid dynamics, working with his engineers to study and analyze racing aerodynamics. With CFD, a vital part of the aeronautic and aerospace industries, the team is able to simulate airflow around the car’s body, in turn helping them to develop and manufacture parts and fine-tune engine and brake performance.
