HPC Matters is our team blog. Everyone on the team has been given an opportunity to talk directly to our readers. I’m one of those “behind the scene” types, so this is all pretty new to me. What could I possibly say that would make you want to read my post?
Well, let’s talk about what this blog is all about. It’s about community. It’s about getting to know you and giving you a way to communicate directly with us and, more importantly, with each other.
In that spirit, I have an exciting announcement to make! We want you to join our HPC Horizons community for free! If you’re interested in a complimentary trial offer, just send me an email at [email protected].
What is HPC Horizons? (This link will only work for registered users). It’s a peer-to-peer network of senior-level executives spanning vertical industries, government and academia, who are pushing the envelope of high productivity computing. They’re passionate about embracing HPC to enhance the quality of service for their business-critical applications. For example, high performance potato chips anyone?
“What’s in it for me?” Beside’s the obvious networking opportunities, a community gives you a chance to interact with like-minded individuals and explore new worlds. Social media, like blogging, let’s you talk to your colleagues around the world – in real time. It provides an outlet for creative expression regardless of your personality type. Introverts unite! And, it preserves your writings in an online archive that you can link to — forever (well, almost).
“Is it worth it?” If you enjoy learning, then the answer is yes. It’s not likely that the HPC Horizons community will change the world overnight, but it can help you stay connected and easily share ideas — and these ideas will be the stepping stones for change.
“What will I have to do?” Advice is the key driver in knowledge sharing. You can’t be a silent observer. Once you make contact, open up and give people a chance to get to know you. Pose questions. Don’t just blog, post your email, your IM, your photo, add personal tidbits to your Horizons profile, invite friends and suggest meetups at industry events. This can be powerful stuff.
So, will you join us? If you have not already registered, you can do so here.
