Security? Just get over it! That’s the message Integral Technology managing director Ray Noonan delivered to delegates attending the IBM Forum ’08 in Wellington yesterday. Noonan was one of dozens of IBM staffers and partners who spoke at the annual event following a keynote address delivered by maverick New Zealand-based medical innovator, Ray Avery.
Noonan told his audience during his presentation “Utility computing — so last year. Welcome to the cloud” that utility and cloud computing were in many ways a return to the early days of business computing when the enormous cost of infrastructure had forced companies to share resources. Cloud computing is based on the internet (cloud) where applications are provided as a service and utility computing is where computing or storage resources are rented.
