To keep up with future demands in terms of storage, security, and reliability, data centers will have to work on consolidation with their networks and connectivity. In the case of cloud computing, some data centers may opt to forgo having an extensive data center at all, relying instead on shared resources. Although it’s difficult to make predictions about technology evolution, there are some developments happening in networking and connectivity right now that are likely to have an impact on data centers within the next decade, experts note.
