Government agencies can cut up to 50% of their IT costs by making the switch to cloud computing according to a new report from the Brookings Institution. A new paper that examines the costs and benefits along with the apparent security and privacy issues addresses these matters in the context of seven U.S. government agencies that have made the switch. The paper’s overall conclusion is that this is one of the most glaring methods of cost-cutting at a time when the federal government and numerous state and local agencies are seeking to cut costs.
