The large-scale concerns about cloud computing are frequently addressed in general ways but one of the most important functional questions end users of enterprise cloud solutions have is whether or not the SaaS offerings will tie in with their existing data center processes and existing software. InfoWorld author Eric Knorr argues that this is a particularly important issue since it is double fold: on the one hand, adopters need to be concerned not only about data integration, but also process integration. The ultimate solution to these possible barriers to cloud adoption can be solved by bringing in a middleware provider to analyze for cleaner integration. These points are valuable not only for businesses using a range of cloud operations, but for HPC in the sense that these issues become even more important on a larger-scale for specialized workloads.
