The BBC has been paying quite a bit of attention to the cloud lately and released another story this morning based on data collected by TechMarketView suggesting that the current market for cloud services will double by 2012. The research firm predicts that the cloud’s services sector will be worth approximately 1.2 billion Euro by this time 2012 but that there will be a “hybrid evolution” that must occur first. In other words, the shift to cloud will not occur overnight or in full–rather, many companies will want to make use of the cloud only for specific tasks and functions, thus keeping the sensitive data out of the public cloud.
