IBM has been in the news quite a bit this month with annoucements that have included critical alliances with cloud-based service providers of all sizes. Additionally, they have made several gifts to different universities and research centers to expand cloud computing research initiatives. This week IBM has extended further and is providing tools for universities to help students within the cloud. For instance, the most recent news on the IBM gifting front includes word that the company has launche the IBM Cloud Academy program for institutions who want access to the many scalable resources and new tools that institutions need most. This includes elements for instructors and students alike and further cements IBM’s role as one of the key newsmakers on the academic cloud playing field.
