Cloud architecture and cloud design are not easy propositions, even for the most skilled developers–a fact that is complicated when big data is involved. As it stands, despite the ever-lowering costs of of bandwidth, drive reliability has not kept pace with the possibilities of low costs of bandwidth. In other words, data will keep getting bigger and will outpace bandwidth. Some argue that network-based deduplication might help with this but it is not always in the realm of possibility, which means that the standard large data center is going to remain the best option for large data stores, even if there are other possibilities offered by the cloud.
Cloud Storage Will Be Limited By Drive Reliability, Bandwidth
