Life sciences researchers in Australia have been granted access to the high performance computers that comprise Australia’s grid network via the launch of its Computer Cloud initiative. According to ARCS, this marks the first time such a service has been offered to researchers in Australia as it requires very few technical skills to run analysis on large data sets on a desktop PC, in part because of the extensive degree of automation. ARCS plans to expand the resources of the project through a partnership with New Zealand’s research grid, BeSTGrid with help fro a $22 million grand from the government’s Super Science Inititative.
