Dr Jim Goodnight, founder and chief executive of SAS, says the privately held company took “quite a big hit” from the collapse of firms such as Bear Stearns and JPMorgan Chase, as about 42 per cent of its revenue comes from the financial sector. By last year, however, SAS’s financial services revenue was growing again, and Goodnight says the company is “in the right spot at the right time” with its release of fast-performance risk computation engines.
