You can never have too many HPC in the cloud case studies; whether for the enterprise or for large-scale research projects, the challenges are different depending on the application and scale of the workload. One company that has released information about its experiences in the cloud is Woodward Governor Co,, an outfit that designs and builds fuel nozzles and other parts for jets. Recently, the company began using cloud-based supercomputing might to handle their design and simulation needs, cutting their time to market by around 80%. This type of story is increasingly common across application and business types and with the help from Amazon’s announcement today that it will be offering HPC horsepower behind its cloud, stories like this will increase in volume.
