Reports of Grid’s Death Are Greatly Exaggerated

Will Amazon’s HPC on-demand service mean the end of science grids? Some commentators are already writing the grid’s obit, but Craig Lee, President and CEO of the Open Grid Forum, attempts to cut through some of the hype and offers the perspective that grids and clouds are not mutually exclusive. In his words: “To sum it all up in one phrase — grids are about federation; clouds are about provisioning.”
