The SC17 Student Cluster Competition started with a well-orchestrated kick-off emceed by Stephen Harrell, the competition chair.
It began with a welcome from SC17 chair Bernd Mohr, where he lauded the competition for being the most internationally flavored event of the entire SC conference.
Stephen Harrell then took over, introducing his committee members (who are vital to the smooth operation of the competition), then having Andy Howard briefly explain the cloud component of the tourney. After that, we heard Andrea Orton unveil the mystery application (it’s MPass-A, a sophisticated atmospheric modeling app.).
At that point, it was on, and students were a blur of activity as they hurried to their booths to begin work on the applications.
Our video camera puts you right in the middle of the action, as you’ll see in the upcoming articles. Stay tuned…..
