Do you know your way around scientific software and programming? You think you can contribute to the community by making scientific software better? If so, then the Better Scientific Software (BSSW) organization wants you to apply for their Fellowship program.
The BSSW is an organization founded in 2017 by HPC luminaries from various US national labs. Their goal is to improve developer productivity and software through better practices, processes and tools.
As part of their annual fellowship program, the BSSE will be selecting at least three people this year, with each receiving up to $25,000 for performing an activity that promotes better scientific software. Activities could include putting together a workshop, authoring a tutorial or creating other content that will help the scientific software community.
Applicants need to be affiliated with a US based institution (like a lab, university or corporation) that is eligible to receive US DOE funds. They also must be passionate about scientific software and interested in contributing their ideas, tools, etc., in order to improve the quality of scientific software. Moreover, they need to be willing to participate as a fellowship alum in succeeding years in order to help select and guide future fellows.
If this sounds like you, submissions for the BSSW Fellowship program are open now. But you need to hurry up, the application window closes promptly on October 15th.
