Imagine the World of Exascale with Oak Ridge National Lab

In honor of the the second annual Exascale Day, AMD and HPCwire hosted a discussion on Exascale Computing with Gina Tourassi, Bronson Messer and John Turner, who are involved with exascale efforts at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). This conversation was moderated by Addison Snell, CEO, Research Intersect360. Last year, the lab announced it was building the Frontier supercomputer. Scheduled for delivery in 2021, Frontier is expected to have a performance greater than 1.5 exaflops, which would make it, at the time, the most powerful supercomputer in the country.

Watch the presentation to learn about the progress made in bringing exascale systems to fruition, the new research areas that they will enable and solving the problems we have now and may have in the future.
