CHICAGO, Ill., March 12 — Ace Computers, a veteran Intel partner, announced that it is incorporating Intel’s newest “E” family of processors into its custom computers. Because these chips have very large caches, they are the first to allow sophisticated analytics without a commensurate amount of storage. In-memory analytics places and analyzes an entire dataset in the system memory rather than on traditional disk drives. In essence, in-memory analytics can bypass RAM.
Ace Computers’ CEO John Samborski said, “These chips are a real breakthrough for companies that are looking for high performance computing capabilities within their budget. Not only is this a less expensive option, but it’s much faster—up to 3 times faster–than going through RAM. What this essentially does is provide a significant amount of computing power within a standard processor.”
Intel just rolled out its Xeon Processor E7 v2 Family. These processors deliver up to 80 percent more performance with up to 80 percent lower total cost of ownership than alternative architectures. In addition, the E7 family has twice the average performance and four times the I/O bandwidth of the previous generation. These processors can support up to 32-socket servers, with configurations supporting up to 15 processing cores and up to 1.5 terabytes (TB) of memory per socket. This enables much faster and more thorough data analysis.
In-memory analytics is becoming more popular due to the increased need for more complex analytics across nearly all industries. “It’s a continuing evolution,” Samborski said. “Bigger, better, faster, more, and less expensive is the way technology is trending. We are also finding that our clients are demanding solutions that require less power. These new Intel processors help satisfy all of this. It’s a great way for our clients to get super high performance without having to pay for high-priced equipment.”
