A CORUÑA, Spain, Jan. 19, 2018 — The Galicia Supercomputing Center (CESGA) and Appentra Solutions will host the second edition of the GPU Hackathon at the Galicia Supercomputing Center, in Santiago de Compostela, from March 5 to 9, this time with an international scope and English as the event language.
CesgaHack18 aims to help scientists and developers accelerate the execution of their scientific simulation applications using the hardware, software and a team of expert mentors in optimization, parallelization and execution of simulation programs.
At the end of the event, participants will either have a new GPU-accelerated version or a roadmap to reach that goal. The winning team will receive a GeForce GTX 1080Ti, offered by NVIDIA.
Participants will be able to create success stories, as happened last year with the team working on a model for tsunami predictions at the University of Málaga, which with the collaboration of Appentra and Fernanda Foertter (ORNL) published a research paper presented at SuperComputing 17, in Denver, the most important event in the field of High Performance Computing (HPC).
The Hackathon will be divided into a presentation day for all those who want to attend, and 5 intensive days to optimize the scientific simulation application of each participating team.
The deadline to participate is February 11, and participation is free of charge.
CESGA and Appentra encourage scientific projects to participate and obtain this necessary individualized training that will help them move forward and save time in their applications. More science and less coding!
