Nov. 10 — In November, FlyElephant celebrates its first year of access to the public. FlyElephant is a platform for data scientists, engineers and researchers, which accelerates their work and improves their business by automating data science and engineering simulation tasks.
“Thanks to the support from Microsoft and Amazon with the programs BizSpark Plus and AWS Activate, as well as the cooperation with the data center UNIT-IS and cluster SCIT, we were able to build a platform which can work with different computing resources and automate tasks.
The platform supports the public clouds Azure and AWS, HPC-clusters based on SLURM and Docker-clusters based on Swarm. We’ve already integrated more than 30 different languages and tools into FlyElephant, and their number is constantly growing.
During this past year, the system has been used by more than 1000 users, which allowed us to collect a large number of feedback and to understand how to improve the platform in the future. This community is an integral part of the platform, which consists of partner companies and individual experts who are ready to help in solving complex tasks. Together we are building new solutions based on FlyElephant platform and invite everyone to join us,” says CEO FlyElephant, Dmitry Spodarets.
Today FlyElephant announces the start of the cooperation with HPC HUB.
HPC HUB is a developer of complex software and hardware solutions in high performance computing for resource intensive tasks for science and business, and provides cloud computing model services.
The current HPC HUB`s products are based on complete and container systems virtualization, the resource management system OpenStack, the distributed storage Ceph and the clustered file system GFS2.
Our collaboration will help the FlyElephant platform by giving it new computing resources and soon a connection to 3 new clusters:
- HPC HUB 1: 80 nodes (2 × Xeon E5-2680v2 (20 cores), 64GB RAM, IB FDR) and 240TB storage.
- HPC HUB 2: 100 nodes (2 × Xeon E5-2670v2 (20 cores), 256GB RAM, IB FDR) and 240TB storage.
- HPC HUB 3: 150 nodes (2 × Xeon E5-2650v2 (16 cores), 128GB RAM, 2 × Tesla K80, IB FDR) and 240TB storage.
You can make a preliminary application to gain access to the data cluster on the FlyElephant platform.
November 10th to 18th the FlyElephant team will be in Salt Lake City, where it will participate in the SC16 conference, and CEO FlyElephant, Dmitry Spodarets, will hold a presentation on the topic “FlyElephant for Data Science Tasks, Simulation Engineering and Rendering” at the HP-CAST27 conference and he will take part in the discussion panel “CxO panel: Getting it off the ground” at the StartupHPC-16 conference.
