ISC STEM Student Day & Gala Now Open for Sponsorship

FRANKFURT, Germany, Dec. 17, 2018 — The organizers of ISC High Performance are proud to announce the return of the third ISC STEM Student Day & Gala, with an attractive program for students and sponsoring organizations. Besides introducing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students to the HPC career landscape, in particular, the types of jobs involved, and the various hiring and training organizations, the organizers will also expose students to the different technologies that drive HPC.

The ISC STEM Student Day & Gala addresses the challenges of HPC technology providers in finding suitable graduates for entry level positions. As an HPC conference organizer, ISC is in a unique position to bring together all interested parties to help create a productive recruiting environment.

From all applications received, conference organizers will select 200 regional and international STEM students who show a keen interest in HPC to be admitted into this program for free. These students range from those enrolled in bachelor’s degree programs through those completing their PhD research in fields such as computer science, computer engineering, information technology, autonomous systems, physics and mathematics. The age group ranges from 19 to 30.

This non-profit effort was first introduced in 2017 and has been attended by over 300 students and supported by 22 sponsors.

“Unlike regular STEM events, the aim of our program is to connect the next generation of regional and international STEM practitioners with the HPC industry and its key players. We hope this will encourage them to pursue careers in this space, and we will see them as part of the HPC user community in the future,” said Martin Meuer, the general co-chair of the ISC High Performance conference series.

“The ISC STEM Student Day & Gala is also a great opportunity for organizations to associate themselves as STEM employers and invest in their future HPC user base.”

The 2019 ISC STEM Student Day & Gala will take place on Wednesday, June 19 during the ISC High Performance conference and exhibition. The full-conference will be held from Sunday, June 16 – 20 at Messe Frankfurt and expects 3700 attendees.

Since some of these STEM students will soon graduate, this program is very attractive to organizations that offer HPC training, education opportunities, as well as employment opportunities as. Please contact [email protected] to get involved.

The program includes an HPC tutorial on Applications, Systems, and Programming Models conducted by Dr. Bernd Mohr, Senior Scientist at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre. The students will also have the chance to visit the booths and exhibits of sponsoring organizations.

Another great highlight of the program is the evening event, which includes a dinner and a job fair set in a casual atmosphere in close proximity to the conference. All sponsoring organizations will have an exclusive two-and-a-half-hour of direct contact with the students at the STEM job fair.

Students will be able to register for the program starting April 9, 2019 via the program web page.
