LiquidCool Solutions Launches LCS Edge

June 24, 2017

ROCHESTER, M.N., June 24, 2017 — LiquidCool Solutions today announced the availability of the LCS Edge, a computing appliance that packs up to 8kW of computing power in a compact rack for data-intensive applications where low latency and high-performance processing are desired.

LiquidCool Solutions has developed a proprietary liquid cooling technology that decouples electronics from the environment. Using off-the-shelf components LCS combines a sealed enclosure and standard rack, a cost-effective approach that places special emphasis on scalability and ease of maintenance.  LCS cooling technology is so efficient that air conditioning is not required. It is now possible to obtain all the operational and environmental benefits of liquid cooling and spend less than air-cooled servers of comparable computing power.

Designed for the edge-computing market, the LCS Edge is configured as a four-, eight- or 16-server appliance with unparalleled energy savings compared to air-cooled servers. It is more compact than air-cooled systems and requires no mechanical refrigeration, evaporative cooling, CRAC units, raised floors or water.  The LCS Edge is an appliance and setup is simple – add power and fiber, attach the radiator, and turn it on.

The LCS Edge enables real-time data analytics and rapid response from complex processing of high volumes of data at high velocities.  There are nine standard LCS Edge configurations, and the appliance can be customized to satisfy special customer processor, memory, storage and I/O requirements.

The LCS Edge is built for portability and durability. The electronics are sealed and isolated so the IT hardware can be installed and operate reliably in harsh environments previously considered off-limits, such as desert sand, salt air, dust, metal chips, and pollution.

“Sending data to the cloud for processing and bouncing information back to the local device is slow and unproductive,” said Herb Zien, CEO, LiquidCool Solutions. “The LCS Edge, which does not require air conditioning and literally can be located anywhere, provides an efficient, cost effective interface between the Internet of Things and the Cloud.”

About LiquidCool Solutions

LiquidCool Solutions is a technology development firm with 30 issued patents centering on cooling electronics by total immersion in a dielectric fluid. LCS technology places special emphasis on scalability and rack management.  Beyond providing superior energy savings, performance and reliability, LCS technology enables a broad range of unique applications not possible with any other air or liquid cooling systems.
