Mellanox Switch-IB Family of InfiniBand Switches Set New Record

November 18, 2014

SUNNYVALE, Calif. & YOKNEAM, Israel, Nov. 18 — Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., a leading supplier of end-to-end interconnect solutions for servers and storage systems, today announced its Switch-IB family of EDR 100Gb/s InfiniBand switches achieves world record port-to-port latency of less than 90ns. Switch-IB has 36-ports of 100Gb/s to provide 7.2Tb/s of switching capacity and ultra-low latency and power consumption. Compared to the previous generation of InfiniBand switches, Switch-IB delivers nearly twice the throughput per port with half the latency.

Data intensive, in-memory and high-performance applications require the lowest possible network latency. The larger the fabric, the more switch hops exist, making switch system latency a critical element in overall data center performance. To address these needs, application managers can harness the performance of Switch-IB to reduce latency across the data center and to increase return-on-investment.

“We have designed the Switch-IB product family to address the performance needs of the next generation high-performance compute and storage platforms,” said Gilad Shainer, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies. “By enabling sub 90ns latency with 100Gb/s throughput per ports, our customers can move data faster than ever to dramatically improve their applications’ performance and maximize their system efficiency.”

The Switch-IB EDR 100Gb/s InfiniBand Switch systems are available for orders.
