TAIPEI, May 21, 2015 – 4D-DC, the established cloud, colocation and connectivity provider, introduced its new cloud platform “4D Cloud 2.0” based on Infortrend storage solutions. Expecting a strong demand for the new cloud platform, 4D-DC aims to reach 200 virtual machines (VMs) and 4-million peak IOPS in data centre for its new 4D Cloud 2.0 platform within the first year.
What sets the new cloud platform apart are the storage solutions provided by Infortrend. The solutions met 4D-DC’s strict requirements for scalability, resilience and performance. The automated storage tiering function especially impressed 4D-DC. It fully utilizes the different types of drives (SSD, SAS, NL-SAS drive), allowing 4D Cloud 2.0 to satisfy clients requiring high speed storage access, while the others may continuously store data backup without interruption.
“Infortrend has provided us with a storage solution that can cope with the rapidly changing demands of a fast growing cloud platform. Now, we can provide our clients with even better connectivity and cloud solutions,” said David Barker, founder and technical director at 4D-DC.
4D Cloud 2.0, the latest offering from 4D-DC, provides ultimate cloud hosting solutions in terms of flexibility, security, speed and ease of use. With 1 million peak IOPS and 40 VMs initially, 4D-DC expects it to evolve to over 4 million peak IOPS and to 200 VMs within the first year of launch. To meet such huge demands, the main technical challenge was to expand easily and rapidly whenever the scalable demand is there and at the same time, maintain and improve the performance and flexibility of the storage solution. This was especially important, in terms of the support for storage solution.
The 4D Cloud platform was built on an intricate infrastructure, including Dell servers, Brocade switch fabric and Infortrend RAID storage. And as with the nature of a cloud platform, it offers a variety of applications such as SQL databases, telephone systems, video streaming service, etc. For more details about 4D-DC’s new cloud platform with Infortrend storage, please click here.
