March 2, 2022 — Oxford Instruments has announced its membership in the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C) effective immediately.
Oxford Instruments NanoScience Managing Director, Stuart Woods comments: “The work that QED-C is doing is vital to progressing application and use of quantum and in particular in fostering the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom. We are truly proud to become one of QED-C’s first international members. There’s so much opportunity for industry collaboration, shared education between allies, and we’re excited to be able to contribute in a meaningful way.”
The mission of the Consortium is to support and grow a robust commercial quantum-based industry and associated supply chain. Managed by SRI International, QED-C was established with support from the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the U.S. Department of Commerce as part of the Federal strategy in the U.S. for advancing quantum information science. Today it has more than 200 members, including over 150 corporations.
“I’m delighted to welcome Oxford Instruments as an international QED-C member. We’re looking to expand the global quantum community and cross industry collaboration work that we do, and today’s announcement is testament to this,” states Celia Merzbacher, Executive Director of QED-C.
As part of the work that QED-C does with its members, the Consortium holds plenary meetings and has several committees that focus on topics including uses cases of quantum technologies, enabling technology needs and roadmaps for addressing those needs, standards and benchmarks, and workforce development.
