Feb. 20, 2020 — The application window for the SC20 Students@SC programs opened this week. Student volunteers are encouraged to apply to to have access to the inaugural HPC Immersion Program, compete in the Student Cluster Competition, or be able to join the Student Volunteers program.
Undergraduate and graduate students help with the administration of the conference and have the opportunity to participate in the Students@SC program, explore the Exhibits, attend technical presentations, and develop lasting professional connections. The Student Volunteers program accepts a large number of students, both domestic and international, with the goal of welcoming new members into the HPC community.
Former SC student volunteers are encouraged to apply for a lead student volunteer role. Students interested in high performance networks should consider applying as a SCinet volunteer.
Lead Student Volunteers
Lead student volunteers work directly with committee members on a specific part of the conference. They will help select and train the volunteer staff and mentor new students. These volunteers will be required to attend several phone meetings in advance and should arrive in Atlanta the Friday before the conference begins.
SCinet Student Volunteers
SCinet teams include fiber, network security, routing, and communications. About 20 students will be selected to help build and operate SCinet. Students will have the opportunity to work with professionals from educational institutions, HPC centers, network equipment vendors, national laboratories, research institutions, research networks, and telecommunications carriers. Selected students should arrive at the convention center one week prior to the conference to set up the network, and stay a day after the conference ends to perform teardown tasks.
