Tabor Communications Appoints Kevin King as Manager of Industry and Workforce Initiatives

June 10, 2019

SAN DIEGO, Calif., June 10, 2019 – Tabor Communications Inc. (TCI) announced the appointment of Kevin King as Manager of Industry and Workforce Initiatives. This newly created position will develop a specialized portal of training capabilities and job placement opportunities that supports workforce and career development opportunities across high performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data to address widespread bottlenecks in advanced IT talent.

“HPC has a history of challenges with regard to maintaining a qualified workforce, whether organizations are looking for executives steeped in supercomputing or simply need an expert in optimizing apps for HPC,” said Tom Tabor, CEO of Tabor Communications, publisher of HPCwire, Datanami and EnterpriseAI. “And with the proliferation of Big Data and AI, which require HPC-level processing technologies, the consequences of this talent gap are compounding.
“Wherever you look on the HPC spectrum these issues are pervasive: from the national labs all the way to the cluster level. To this end we’re thrilled to announce Kevin King joining our team to spearhead efforts in workforce development. Kevin knows the HPC field and community well and is poised to make a tremendous impact not only on TCI,  but on the advanced computing and Big Data industries as a whole.”

As Manager of Industry and Workforce Initiatives, King will support the global computing community by providing a venue and forum to not only list available positions but also create a listing of training options in addition to providing informative content on topics pertinent to workforce, employment and professional skills in HPC, BD and AI.

“I’m thrilled to be stepping into this role to not only support TCI’s audiences, but elevate all of the advanced computing community,” said King. “As technical demands in Big Data, AI and HPC continue to climb we are seeing a soaring demand for unique and highly trained talent. The challenge for employers across public and private sectors is not to simply find talent, but identify the perfect-fit candidate that will advance IT initiatives to the next level. I look forward to working with leading organizations and professionals alike to help bridge the talent gap.”
