May 17, 2018 — The TERATEC FORUM, a meeting of international experts in High Performance Computing (HPC), Digital Simulation and Big Data, will be held for the 13th time on June 19 and 20 in Palaiseau, on the Ecole Polytechnique Campus. To illustrate the hardware, software, services and R&D elements of the Teratec Forum, there will be an exhibition of nearly 70 stands, and thematic areas such as the European Research Café.

The conferences section will help take stock of the latest developments in digital technologies through the plenary sessions on Tuesday June 19:

• Major industrial users (Renault, Naval Group) will testify to the challenges of high performance simulation in their company with an analysis of the strategies to be implemented to master it.
• Technology providers (ARM, Mentor Graphics) and innovative SMEs (ActiveEon) will present their latest achievements and show how these technologies are now accessible to SMEs.
• It will also be an opportunity for public authorities to show their role in the development of these technologies that are profoundly transforming the worlds of research and teaching (EPFL, ENS Paris-Saclay, Ecole Polytechnique … ) and industry, by developing the breakthrough products and services we need to remain at the cutting edge of competitiveness.

Eight expert technical and application workshops on Wednesday, June 20 will discuss emerging technologies and new application areas for HPC, numerical simulation and big data.

• Predictive maintenance and digital twins
  This workshop, chaired by Marie-Christine SAWLEY (Intel) and Jacques DUYSENS (Ansys), will focus on the digital twin that uses the information from the sensors of the actual installation to understand the operation and anticipate maintenance operations to ensure optimum operation.
• Health and personalized medicine at the time of HPC
  This workshop, chaired by Emmanuel DEQUIER and Pierre TAMBOURIN (Genopole), will explain how HPC facilitates the sequencing of the human genome, which will revolutionize both therapeutic practices by making them more accurate and the development of new personalized medicines for each patient.
• The quantum revolution in progress
  This workshop, chaired by Guillaume COLIN DE VERDIERE (CEA), will explain how “quantum computation” will move from theoretical status to a phase of experimentation and development of a robust ecosystem thanks to the arrival of usable simulators and new hardware solutions.
• Cultural and creative industries at the cutting edge of digital
  This workshop, chaired by Stéphane SINGIER (Cap Digital), will show how French digital creators have earned a worldwide reputation in the fields of modeling and animation through testimonials from creative studios and technology providers.
• HPC, Cloud and Embedded Systems (HPC in the Loop)
  This workshop, chaired by Marie-Christine SAWLEY (Intel) and Jacques DUYSENS (Ansys), will explain how, in both hardware and software, the most innovative systems will leverage more and more more computing power and use HPC in the Loop.
• Building and infrastructure, digitally revisited
  This workshop, chaired by François PELEGRIN (DPLG Architect), will show how in less than a decade the world of construction has moved from 2D plans to BIM’s advanced digital technologies to create an environment that is more efficient, sustainable and energy efficient.
• Deep Learning through calculation practice
  This workshop, chaired by Marc DURANTON (CEA), Laurent VANEL and Benoit VAUTRIN (IBM), will provide users of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning with insights into the advantages and applicability of these tools within their field, and enable them to form a practical opinion.
• Autonomous Systems and HPC/HPDA
  This workshop, chaired by Luc MARBACH (Vedecom), will explain why autonomous systems and vehicles, whatever their destination, will require the development of innovative numerical simulation tools to define, build, evaluate and validate envisaged technical solutions.

To end in style, make sure to attend the 4th awarding of the Digital Simulation Trophies organized with the L’Usine Digitale, in partnership with CEA, Cray Computer, Dell EMC, HPE and Inria. Five trophies will be awarded by a jury of leading professionals to recognize the champions of digital simulation, HPC and Big Data.
