KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany, Nov. 11 — When the HPC community meets this year for SC’14 in New Orleans, solutions for the increasing I/O demands of parallel applications are one of the hottest topics to be discussed. FhGFS, the parallel file system from the German Fraunhofer research society was specifically designed to meet the extreme requirements of high performance computing and thus SC’14 is an important event to talk about latest developments.
In the last 12 months, FhGFS has been renamed to BeeGFS and ThinkParQ GmbH was established to support the product in the market. ThinkParQ will do support, services and consulting for BeeGFS and help customers to easily adopt this technology. For this purpose, there will also be a series of whitepapers published to give an introduction to BeeGFS. ThinkParQ will also give a talk about BeeGFS in the SC’14 exhibitor forum on Tuesday, November 18th (3:30pm to 5:00pm, Room 291), and to provide a general overview as well as an update about recent developments and performance figures.
Additionally, ThinkParQ will help partners such as HP, transtec, Dell, ClusterVision, MegWare and others to strengthen their offerings with BeeGFS. As a first result of this work, the cluster software stack “Qlustar 9” will be released with full support for BeeGFS at SC’14. Together with Scalable Informatics, ThinkParQ will present “FastPath Unison BeeGFS” at booth #3053 – a extremely fast, dense, and scalable hyperconverged storage appliance.
“We are looking forward to meet the community at SC’14 and talk about the recent changes and updates around BeeGFS. This great technology enables everyone to use a parallel filesystem to improve performance of I/O-intensive applications, because it is just so extremely easy to use and maintain – this eliminates one of the biggest holdbacks in parallel storage,” states Sven Breuner, CEO of ThinkParQ.
Jan Heichler, Sales Director at ThinkParQ, adds, “SC’14 is an excellent opportunity to get in contact with users and talk about their needs and requirements. We will have members of the development team at our booth and know that users like the opportunity to get some more insight into our technology.”
You can find Fraunhofer ITWM and ThinkParQ at booth #3147 on the SC’14 exhibition floor.
About BeeGFS
BeeGFS is the new name for the well known parallel filesystem FhGFS. FhGFS was developed at the Fraunhofer Institute in Kaiserslautern. It provides excellent performance and scalability – but combines it with ease of use, which is unique for a filesystem targeted at High Performance Computing. Additionally, it is extremely flexible and doesn’t lock users in with specific Linux distributions or kernel versions. With these key differentiators, BeeGFS is adopted in a large number of scientific and commercial sites as the default choice for a work-filesystem for HPC.
About ThinkParQ
ThinkParQ was founded as a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Competence Center for HPC in Kaiserslautern to bring BeeGFS to the market. ThinkParQ supports system integrators creating turn-key solutions, is responsible for support, provides individual presentations on demand, organizes events, attends exhibitions and works very closely with system integrators.
