Nov. 18 — Univa, the Data Center Automation Company, and Penguin Computing, experts in high performance and enterprise computing solutions, today announced they have signed a reseller agreement. As a result, Penguin Computing is an authorized reseller of Univa Grid Engine software, the most advanced distributed resource management platform used by enterprises and research organizations across the globe. The announcement was made at the 2013 International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis (SC13) being held November 17 – 22 in Denver, Colorado.
“At Penguin Computing, we have a long history of providing our customers with best of breed solutions that make an immediate impact and provide a substantial return on investment,” said Charles Wuischpard, President and CEO of Penguin Computing. “Univa’s Grid Engine software is no exception as many of our existing customers have been using this proven workload management solution to optimize their workloads. In recent years, Univa has earned their reputation as the “home of Grid Engine” and we are pleased to offer their innovative and stable solutions.”
This year has been a banner year for Grid Engine. The software celebrated its 20th anniversary and Univa simultaneously completed the acquisition of all Grid Engine assets and intellectual property making it the sole commercial provider of Grid Engine. With Univa Grid Engine, enterprises can efficiently share workloads across machines in a data center to maximize the value of existing compute resources.
In addition to Univa’s core product, Penguin Computing will also provide customers with Univa’s tools to optimize expensive testing and simulation licenses as well as award-winning reporting and analysis solutions.
“We are excited to work together with Penguin Computing to provide world-class support and technical expertise to their clients,” said Gary Tyreman, Univa President and CEO. “Also, partnering with the leading provider of large-scale HPC solutions allows Univa the unique opportunity to illustrate the value of unifying Big Compute and Big Data to a variety of new markets.”
