Blurring the lines between HPC and AI

Today’s high performance computers are helping clients gain insights at an unprecedented pace. The intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and HPC can transform industries while solving some of the world’s toughest challenges. Join IBM at Supercomputing 2018 (SC18) in Dallas, Texas between November 11-15, 2018 and learn how IBM’s solution portfolio is transforming HPC from traditional modeling and simulation to visualization, analytics, and AI.

This year’s Supercomputing will bring together an exciting array of high performance computing technologies. From AI, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) to quantum computing, parallel file systems, advanced load balancing, metadata management and flash memory systems with archival storage, you will find something new at the IBM booth at SC18.

In-depth professional development

Sign up for numerous IBM and community-led user groups on AI, high performance file systems and object storage, and open sessions on metadata analytics, IBM Power AI Enterprise, IBM Power AI Vision, H2O Driverless AI and other technologies.

Explore the technology behind Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Summit Supercomputer

Over the past years, IBM, NVIDIA, Mellanox, and Red Hat worked together to create Summit and Sierra for Oak Ridge (ORNL) and Lawrence Livermore (LLNL) National Labs.  These state-of-the-art supercomputers are built with IBM POWER9™ processors and IBM Storage that will run traditional HPC and AI workloads.  They were not developed as highly customized, proprietary systems often seen in other HPC solutions. The system built for ORNL and LLNL was designed for the enterprise as well.

Summit is the most powerful and smartest supercomputer for science. The architecture delivers massive HPC scalability on a system purpose-built for AI. Researchers are using the computers to simulate quantum mechanics materials, explore evolutionary relationships based upon genomes, and fabricate nanomaterial using AI.

Join IBM at SC18 in Booth 3433
There’s no better way to learn about the latest HPC and AI innovations from IBM or to network with your expert peers than by attending SC18. Join us to hear about the IBM technologies that make Summit and Sierra a reality, to hear more about the IBM Reference Architecture for AI Infrastructure and to see live product demos. You will network and meet other HPC professionals and peers at IBM-led workshops and community user groups to help your organization prepare for whatever comes next. HPC Inspires

Imagine the possibilities. Unlike any time in history, HPC allows us to analyze many points of data to make groundbreaking discoveries in all fields of inquiry, connecting humanity to the world around us as never before.

HPC brings together computing systems and brilliant minds in the continuous pursuit of improving our world and deepening our understanding of our place in the cosmos.

Plan now to be a part of SC18 in Dallas as our community of scientists, engineers, developers, system administrators, educators, students, program managers, CIOs, and policy makers once again gathers for a program that is unequaled in the world.

SC18 will continue its emphasis on professional development education and best practices that deliver leading-edge insights to HPC users. We’ll continue a multi-year emphasis on advancing our community’s state-of-the-practice – embracing all aspects related to the practical use of HPC, including infrastructure, services, facilities, and large-scale application implementations.

Together, we explore, engage, innovate, and collaborate.
Because the conversations we have today lead to more than theories of a distant future – they become tomorrow’s reality.

Our quest continues at SC18.
