NEC’s most recent vector super-computer offering, SX Aurora TSUBASA, is a pure vector processor hosted on standard x86 based server system. This vector architecture is enclosed in PCIe interface based cards. This dramatic reduction in vector supercomputing footprint, power and subsequent cost makes the pure vector architecture enabled performance to be available to even those users that have minimum investment budgets.
NEC SX Aurora supports various libraries for both traditional HPC and for AI/ML. Some of the notable supported libraries for traditional HPC are BLAS, LAPACK, FFT and Stencil Libraries. Similarly, some of the notable supported libraries for AI/ML are TensorFlow, Frovedis and OpenCV.
With SX Aurora, NEC is envisioning that this technology will be both a stepping stone and enabler to the subsequent compute offerings from NEC such as Quantum Computers. NEC SX Aurora computers are simulated quantum annealing capable. Download the paper to learn more.
