Dot Hill Expands Relationship with Teradata

April 20, 2015

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands and LONGMONT, Colo., April 20 — Dot Hill Systems Corp., a trusted supplier of innovative enterprise-class storage systems, today announced it has expanded its relationship with Teradata, the big data analytics and marketing applications company.

In the latest collaboration between the two companies, Teradata has integrated the Dot Hill Ultra48 AssuredSAN ultra-density storage array into the newly announced Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance 2800.

Teradata is focused on integrated data warehousing and business applications. Teradata’s innovative products and services deliver data integration and business insight to empower organizations to make the best decisions possible and achieve competitive advantage.

Configured with multiple Dot Hill Ultra48 AssuredSAN arrays which support twice the storage density, three times the storage capacity and delivered ready to run, the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance 2800 is a fully-integrated system, purpose-built for integrated data warehousing.

The Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance features the industry-leading Teradata Database, a Teradata platform with dual Intel fourteen-core Haswell processors, SUSE Linux operating system, and enterprise-class storage–all preinstalled into a power-efficient unit.

Dot Hill’s Ultra48 AssuredSAN ultra-density storage arrays deliver twice the storage density to save significant rack height space.

“Dot Hill has proven to be a strong and flexible go-to-market partner,”said Chris Twogood, vice president, Teradata products and services. “The Ultra48 provides a compelling storage solution for Teradata’s Data Warehouse Appliance 2800 with the ability to store up to 320 terabytes in a single cabinet, a 300 percent improvement over the previous generation. Saving valuable space and energy, this ultra-density array is extremely efficient and robust, which makes it highly suitable for big data applications, data mining, reporting, and analytics.”

“Teradata continues to be a strategic vertical market partner for Dot Hill and we are very excited to deliver highly differentiated storage solutions for Teradata’s big data and analytics applications,” said Dana Kammersgard, president and CEO, Dot Hill Systems. “This appliance joins the Teradata Integrated Big Data Platform 1700 as the second appliance from Teradata to incorporate Dot Hill’s AssuredSAN storage. Delivering additional I/O performance per node and storing more than three times the data capacity per cabinet, the Dot Hill Ultra48 ultra-density chassis is the ideal storage solution for Teradata’s latest appliance.”

With fully redundant and hot-swappable components, the Ultra48 provides easy serviceability, resulting in lower support costs through the life of the product. Also, as with all highly reliable AssuredSAN solutions, the Ultra48 delivers proven 99.999 percent availability. Backed by an industry-best 37-month “bumper-to-bumper” warranty, Ultra48 storage solutions are available with the latest high-bandwidth interfaces, including 12Gb SAS, 16Gb Fibre Channel, 10Gb iSCSI or dual personality 16Gb Fibre Channel/10Gb iSCSI.
