WARSAW, Feb. 20, 2019 — From 11 to 14 March 2019 Warsaw will host a world-class experts in supercomputers – thanks to Supercomputing Frontiers Europe 2019 (SCFE2019).
The European edition of the conference, which for five years has been presenting the most innovative largest scale solutions in computational sciences from all over the world, is organised by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling, University of Warsaw (ICM UW). The first three editions of the conference took place in Singapore, organised by A*STAR Computational Resource Centre and National Supercomputing Centre Singapore. Previous editions showcased a successful scientific programme with eminent plenary keynote speakers such as Whitfield Diffy, Dimitri Kuznietsov, Karlheinz Meier, Thomas Sterling, Satoshi Matsuoka, Robert Harrison, Rick Stevens, Jack Dongarra, Alan Gara, John Gustafson, Srinivas Aluru, Baroness Susan Greenfield, Horst Simon.
During Supercomputing Frontiers Europe 2019 experts will share their knowledge about supercomputer architecture and its interdisciplinary use in contemporary science. The programme will include sessions on, among others:
* Supercomputing applications in domains of critical impact in scientific, economic and human terms, and especially those requiring computing resources approaching Exascale;
* Optical interconnects;
* Genomics, -omics of all kinds and Systems Biology;
* Brain simulations, Neuromorphic computing, Connectome;
* Knowledge Graphs, graph computations, topology.
The keynote speakers will be:
* Dr. Rupak Biswas, Director of Exploration Technology at NASA Ames Research Center and and Manager of the NASA-wide High End Computing Capability Project
* Prof. Leon Chua from the University of California Berkeley, USA, widely known for his invention of the Memristor and the Chua’s Circuit. His research has been recognized internationally through numerous major awards, including 17 honorary doctorates from major universities in Europe and Japan, and 7 USA patents
* Prof. Paul Messina, Director of Argonne National Laboratory’s Computational Science Division, and in 2015-2017 Project Director for the U.S. Department of Energy Exascale Computing Project.
Guests of the event will also be Taisuke Boku from University of Tsukuba, Japan; David Coster from Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics; Alex Wright-Gladstein, co-founder of Ayar Labs, a company that is making computing faster and more energy efficient by using light to move data between chips instead of electricity; and many others.
