Hammerspace Appoints Robert Renzoni to Lead New US Federal Division

January 4, 2023

SAN MATEO, Calif., Jan. 4, 2023 — Hammerspace, today announced the opening of its U.S. Federal Division. Civilian agencies and the Department of Defense are focused on data strategies to meet data mandates, reduce infrastructure costs, drive efficiencies, and increase innovation. Hammerspace’s Global Data Environment makes it possible to create a secure data cloud that spans infrastructure, clouds, and locations, making data created anywhere accessible to any application, compute resource, and data user that needs it.

As part of today’s announcement, Hammerspace is introducing several initiatives to rapidly grow its engagement with federal agencies.

Robert Renzoni to Lead the Hammerspace Federal Team

Robert Renzoni has joined Hammerspace as the Director of Technical Sales to lead the Federal Sales Team. Renzoni brings a wealth of technology experience and partner relationships from Quantum, Advanced Digital Information Corp., and Raytheon Systems. He also served as an Electronic Warfare Technician with the U.S. Air Force.

“The ability to free data from vendor-specific storage ‘prisons’ and enable enhanced workflows that can span across various on-prem storage vendors, multiple clouds and agencies will dramatically change the storage paradigm within the public sector,” said Renzoni. “I’m excited to join the Hammerspace team and help bring its unique capabilities to the federal community during this pivotal time when so many agencies are working to modernize data workflows and management.”

Hammerspace Founder and CEO, David Flynn, Accepted to MissionLink Leadership Network

MissionLink.Next is a nonprofit trade association and exclusive network that includes decision makers, government leaders, founders, and CEOs from across the U.S. who are using and building the most cutting-edge, mission-critical capabilities. Its mission is to connect passionate problem solvers with the right resources to solve national security concerns across commercial and federal sectors.

“Federal agencies and government organizations need access to data across edge, data centers, and cloud environments in a single data cloud. There is a strong need to collaborate across locations and agencies,” said Flynn. “I am pleased to join the MissionLink advisory board to contribute to the thought leadership and technology that will address the next generation of threats in national security, as well as key industries including healthcare, financial services, e-commerce, social media, life sciences, automotive and transportation, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing and critical infrastructure.”

Bob Flores, Former CTO of the CIA, Appointed to Advisory Board

Bob Flores, a Senior Partner with OODA Consulting, Founder and CTO of Applicology Incorporated, and Former CTO of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has joined Hammerspace’s Advisory Board.

“Providing unified access to all of the data being created at the edge, core, and across multi-cloud will help federal agencies and civilian organizations derive insights into a wide range of challenges they face in research and innovation, addressing national security concerns as well as data center modernization initiatives,” said Flores. “Solutions to these problems have historically required extensive investment in people, infrastructure, and countless software solutions. I am gratified to work with the Hammerspace team to shift that paradigm.”

Ensuring Global Data Access and Protection

The federal government is increasingly focused on creating a unified data cloud to collect, analyze, and retain large amounts of data that need to be available from any location at a moment’s notice. Its organizations need to incorporate technology that enables strategic sharing and collaboration on a wide variety of data types, such as high-resolution imagery in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), modeling and simulation, identification of suspicious activity, enabling mission-critical applications, and enabling breakthroughs in research.

Hammerspace provides actionable metadata and data orchestration and eliminates data silos to make all data created anywhere accessible to applications and users everywhere in a single Global Data Environment. Its solution secures data by eliminating copy proliferation while still enabling collaboration. Hammerspace simplifies the job for IT teams by ensuring data access and protection and allowing security policies to be set globally to ensure all data is managed properly.
